We have literally been swamped with orders this Halloween season.  You would not know there was a recession with the amount of orders we've had at Fantasy Angel this year!  Wow!  Oh, I'm not complaining at all.   I guess everyone wants a little break from all the misery we've been enduring day in and day out while listening to how bad things are on the economic front -- hearing about all those who've been tricking us with not much treating, so we want to do some trickin' and treatin' ourselves, I guess. 


Maybe Halloween is our escape this year; where we can dress up like somebody or something else and not have to deal in our own reality, even if it's just for one night.  Or, maybe it's a reminder of yesteryear, taking us back to a time of innocence in our youth, when the economy was strong and all seemed right with the world.


Whatever it is - you Americans are spending money on Halloween like gangbusters and this is GREAT!   If this is any indicator of how you will be spending during the upcoming holiday season, we may be starting to be coming out of this Depression, er, recession.

Grants and Fellowships For Women

Grants and Fellowships for Women

Just found this out and wanted to share with my fellow sisters out there!

The American Association of University Women Educational Foundation has several wonderful funding programs and fellowships available to women and the best thing is that there's no income eligibility required. These programs are available to all women as long as they are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.  However, I did find one program that's available to non-US citizens, which I included at the end and that one is under International Fellowships.

Ok, let me go over a few of the programs available:

1.  Career Development Grants - ($2,000 to $8,000) for  who hold a bachelor's degree, these are for women in the early stages of graduate study OR women who are making a career change OR those who are re-entering the work force, OR  women looking to advance their chosen careers.

2.  Community Action Grants  - ($5,000 to $10,000)  these are two-year seed money grants available for programs or for non-degree research projects promoting the education and equity of girls and women.

3.   American Fellowships - ($6,000 and $30,000) for doctoral candidates who are completing dissertations, or students who are in need of  funds for post-doctoral research leave from accredited institutions.

4.   Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Fellowships  - (up to $5,000) for women who are full-time Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers


5.  Selected Professions Fellowships -($5,000 to $12,000) given to women who are in several specialized degree programs which include: architecture, computer/information sciences, engineering, and mathematics/statistics (open to all women).  These degree programs are also available, but are only open to women of color:  business administration, law, and medicine.

6. International Fellowships - these are fellowships awarded for full-time study or research to women who non U.S. citizens who are selected for their academic achievement who have demonstrated commitment to betterment of women and girls who are at the graduate or postgraduate level at accredited institutions.  Women from 135 different countries have been awarded these fellowships.

You can go to the website and learn more about the programs and actually take a quiz at the site to see if you are eligible for any of the programs.  If you are you are, you can download an application, register and check on status.  They also have a list of past recipients of the awards in all the categories.

Our Philosophy On Plus-Sized Lingerie Pricing

OK, many of you who are lovely plus-sized or queen-sized angels, know that when you go shopping, not only for lingerie, but for any clothing, you'll usually have to pay more than those of us who are in the smaller ranged sizes. Not fair, is it?

I've never felt that this was right, and I'm sure those of you who have to pay the extra costs sure don't feel that it's right.  In fact, I know you don't, because I've heard from you!

To be honest, I didn't even know that larger people had to pay more until I started dating a larger gentlemen a few years ago and went clothes shopping for him. Excited to find the shirt that I wanted to buy him on sale, I was less excited when I found out that it would be $5.00 more just because of his size, a 2X.  As the sales lady was explaining this difference in price to me, because of by complaining, I was only half-listening to her and began slinging my way through rack after rack like madwoman, only to discover that all the plus-sizes were priced about $2.00 to $5.00 more for each article of clothing!

Needless to say, I was in shock!  I thought -"How dare they!"  However, now after owning my own  retail stores, I  now understand  -- how dare they!  You see, suppliers charge us more for the plus-size garments than they do for the regular size. So, unfortunately the costs get passed on to you, the plus-size consumer.

However, I don't like this (and neither do many of my customers and plus-sized friends) and even though it'll cost us a little more, Fantasy Angel will not be charging more for plus sizes. We're updating the website  and changing our prices to reflect our new policy. We're trying hard to accomplish this, but we've still got a ways to go. I promise we'll get there, give us another week or so.  There's 8,000 products to go through, so it's an enormous task, plus I have three jobs and kids who need me.  I'm trying.



Just wanted to let our customers know that we've heard you and we agree...

...So starting now, everyone will be paying the same price for the same item regardless of size!!!
